  1. Case background:

  The business education of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics began in 1917 with the establishment of the business department of Nanjing Higher Normal School. The famous social activist and patriotic democrat Yang Xingfo was the director of business. After the business moved to Shanghai, and established Shanghai Commercial University in 1921, it became an early business university in the history of Chinese education. The famous educator Guo Bingwen was the principal and the famous economist Ma Yichu was the academic director.

  As an early university of higher education in China, the school started its own school and proposed to “train and develop those who have the ability to guide and organize and be able to lead in business and industry”.   After several generations of business education and unremitting efforts, Shanghai University of Finance and Economics has become a multi-disciplinary university with a focus on economic management and business education, and coordinated development of economics, management, law, culture and reason. In 1981, the school became the first university to receive a doctoral degree. In 1992, it became the first university in the country to establish a mobile station.
